I would like to focus on five specific types of oppression they encounter: stigmatization, segregation, ethnocentrism, prejudice, and elegance.

African Americans are facing stigmatization far less these days, when one looks back a half-century, they will find many examples. Stigmatization can include the de-humanization, labels, characterizing, and degrading of your group. During slavery, blacks were stigmatized into the completely happy and carefree characters Mammy and Sambo.
